Your right to choose under the NHS
We have moved to:

Are you living in the UK?
You can choose to have your medical
treatment abroad and we will recover the costs from the NHS on your behalf.
A
new European Union directive states that a
patient living in The UK has the right
to choose a service provider in the
EEA (European Economic Area) and can
lawfully recover the costs from the NHS. This means that any person living in the UK can seek healthcare
abroad and be reimbursed.
If
you are planning to receive treatment
abroad, or have already received
treatment abroad - you have the right
to seek reimbursement for any of the
following treatments:
· Emergency
or necessary medical care for acute problems.
· Outpatient
services such as doctor consultations, various types of diagnostics, dental
care, medical care received in outpatient departments
of hospitals, arthroscopic surgery, vein surgery, laser eye surgery,
etc. For more information on the NHS paid out-patient services click here .
· Inpatient
health care services that require an
overnight hospital stay. In
this case prior authorisation from the NHS will
be required. We therefore
recommend contacting us before you travel
to enable us to obtain the necessary authorisation
! A refund is possible only for medical
services that are medically necessary.

Services covered by NHS
We have moved to:

You are entitled to claim from the NHS if you receive the following three services abroad:
Urgent
or emergency medical assistance.
- Any medical assistance that is considered as urgent or necessary when travelling in an EEC country. For example, Mike lives in Manchester and travels to Spain through France on his summer holiday. Unfortunately he has an accident that requires hospital treatment. Mike receives medical treatment in France which he pays for. On his return to the UK Mike is entitled to have his costs reimbursed by the NHS.
- Out patient services or health care services, which do not require an overnight stay in hospital. For example, Mike lives in London and has regular daily headaches. He visits his GP and is prescribed pain relief. After several months without any improvement in his condition, Mike decides to consult a Physician in France. Tests reveal a cyst has developed near to Mike’s nasal cavity that requires surgery. Mike is entitled to reimbursement for the costs incurred from medical consultations and examinations. *
- Pre-planned inpatient hospital treatment. For pre-arranged hospital treatment authorisation is required from the NHS prior to treatment. Contact us before going abroad and we will apply for authorisation on your behalf. For example, Mike decides to have surgery in France and his treatment will involve a two night stay in hospital.. He needs to obtain a permit in the UK prior to travel
* Note; there are particular restrictions for
dental services. It is
possible to recover some expenses for certain dental treatments list of billable services ,
see link ), The amount of reimbursement depends on the UK DRG
classification, which is determined by your age, place of residence, the
complexity of the service and other factors.

If you are waiting for an operation or any other service that is available under the NHS you can exercise your right to have your treatment abroad. We can help you claim your expenses from the NHS.
The
reorganisation of the NHS and the tightening of the Country’s purse strings has
resulted in many patients being refused treatment for conditions considered non
emergency. Some patients are not receiving specialist consultations while
others are refused help for varicose vein problems, gastric bypass surgery and cataract operations. Patients are entitled to
receive treatment under the NHS and can elect to go abroad to receive it.
Treatments that will make you feel and look better.

Some cosmetic treatments are not available under the NHS, but you can receive treatment in the UK or experience a holiday abroad and receive treatment that will often cost three times less than in the UK including the cost of flight tickets and hotel.
We can arrange treatments on your behalf abroad. The standard
and quality of care given by our partner clinics are of the highest level and
meet guidelines recommended by ISO and other EU and international standards.
